Wicked Blog - Exploiting Dog!

Sticking To His Principles
 - or, more accurately, lack of them, that's your humble scribe all over.  I am currently doguarding, which is not the same as dogsitting.  As if!
"Er - okay, so what is the difference?" I hear you query.  "And be quick, 'Police Interceptors' is on at 8."
Pausing only to nod in appreciation at your television choice, I shall elucidate.
Wonder Wifey yelled at me in the Upstair Lair to look after Edna, whilst she washed the windows.  Conrad unsure why Edna not wanted for this process - surely she provides valuable moral support? and I'm sure she wouldn't try drinking water out of the bucket once she finds out how soapy it is.
Well, she's not happy in the Upstair Lair, as it lacks the amenities of the lounge, i.e. a settee where she can drape herself, either over the fabric cushions or the human-shaped ones.  Instead she chooses to mope on the carpet.  Art?

She hasn't stopped whimpering or whining, except when I bribed her with crisps, and Conrad's assured banter might get her tail wagging, yet it doesn't stop that whinging.
You might also note that my collection of official unit histories - battalion, brigade and division - has now moved from a horizontal arrangement on the floor, to a vertical one in the gap between two bookcases.  Look, Edna!  Look at how less cluttered the floor is now!  See how I ensured all the spines were visible so I know what volume is - ah, no, she's just not interested.

"The Journal" Has Arrived!
I realise I mocked Paul B. Austin for not being very imaginative about the title of his collected works about Napoleon's invasion of Russia ("Napoleon's Invasion Of Russia").  Well, duh.  Here we have the house magazine of The Society Of Twentieth Century Wargamers, and I suppose I should be eating humble pie but I've already had a big tea and am full up.  Art?
Splendid stuff you can but agree!
This really looks the business.  If it was on a newspaper stand you'd be forgiven for thinking it's a professional publication: well it's not.  It's done entirely by volunteers in their spare time.  Herein their link:

You might condemn Conrad for being a despicable old dinosaur, who is glad to see the forests of the world perish simply so he can clutch a physical copy of this magazine.  Which is fair enough.
Still an excellent magazine, however.  If I had more of a conscience I might be compelled to put pen to paper and submit something.  Alas ...

Oh - That Brendan McCarthy
Conrad was watching "Mad Max: Fury Road" last night, because he'd seen a <coughcough>te version and enjoyed it, which in his rule book means having to buy the DVD.  And a blast it is, too.  Shot in Namibia, the colours of the terrain are simply stunning, and doing as many effects physically also lends it an air of possibility.  Art?

Easily the best poster version
Tip of the hat to George Miller, the director.  Hard to believe he's also responsible for "Babe" as well, and -
     - wait, that name in the credits seems familiar.  Brendan McCarthy?
Conrad's mind may be old but it still functions, despite it's indexing and arranging being more like a skip than a library.  Brendan McCarthy, the comic artist from the pages of 2000AD?
     None other.  Art?

30 years old.  Scary!
Well well well.  Many wells make a river, as the Ruffians say, and as my compatriots on Mount Snowdon found out on Saturday.  So, Brendan gets credit for the story, and concept artwork for the vehicles involved.  Because that's one thing about Mad Max films, they take their vehicles seriously.  Build 'em up, race em, BLOW THEM UP!

What can possibly make a film any better?
A FLAMETHROWING GUITAR!!!
MMFR only came out last year, so it's a bit early to look to a sequel.  Tom Hardy, however, is signed on for three more Mad Max films, so there is hope.  And hopefully more of Brendan.

Finally -
I'm going to nick an image that Sophie posted, as I'm near the word count and don't want to bombard you with a long, long article about the anachronistic weapons used in "Game of Shadows".  No. I shall leave that pleasure for a later date.  Instead we have - Art?
Pusheen on a Sunday morning
Conrad himself relaxes on a Sunday by drinking pints of tea, scoffing crumpets and ice cream, and catching up on his reading - "Transmetropolitan" today, a comic book unearthed from beneath that pile of unit histories where it has hidden for lo! these many  months.
Which is where we came in.

*  No appendices today, but thank you for checking.
