You May Be Aware Of The Film
"Cocaine Bear", which your humble scribe has only recently watched in concert with Darling Daughter. No dates are obvious in the film, except that all the band posters on the young lady's walls are from the Eighties.
Of course, bears going mad and stalking humans is nothing new. Take 'Prophecy' for example, except that ursine was a mutant sent insane by disco, or something. Art
Incredibly enough, CB is accurate up to the point where the bear ingests a kilo of cocaine in powder form; this really happened in 1986. Minor plot point: in real life the bear ate about 160 pounds of cocaine and promptly expired, which would make for a pretty short movie.
I bet there's a whole sub-genre of Killer Bears In The Fear Forest, so we may come back to this. In the meantime, here's a list of links:
